Colm Vesterholm
Trial lawyer, Vesterholm Law
I take business disputes on my own, so the lawyer you meet is the one who writes the briefs, takes the depositions and stands up in court.
I spent my first years in practice at a larger firm, mostly defending companies in contract cases. I opened this office because the owners I met wanted something different: one lawyer who knew the file, answered the phone and told them plainly what a case would cost.
Now I take both sides. I sue for companies that weren’t paid and defend those that are being sued, and I represent business owners against their partners and against their own insurers. It keeps me honest about how the other side sees a case.

The office
Across the water, every morning
I live on the other side of the Sound and take the ferry in, which is where most first drafts get written. The office is a short walk up from the terminal, on First Avenue in Pioneer Square, a few blocks from the courthouse.
Clients come to me there, or I go to them: the shop floor, the kitchen, the job site. A dispute is easier to understand where the business happens.
